Jrakalouyts, which means “the lighting of the lamps”, is the Armenian Christmas Eve and is always marked on 5 January.
The greeting on this evening is:
“Kristos dznav yev haytnetsav, Dzez yev mez medz avedis!”
(Christ is born and revealed – great good news to you and to us!)
The reply is:
“Orhnyal e haytnutyun Kristosi!”
(Blessed is the revelation of Christ!)
