The Assumption of the Holy Mother of God is celebrated – one of the five great feasts (Daghavars) of the Armenian Church

✨ Spiritual meaning

• The Assumption of the Holy Mother of God shows the high purpose of the human body and deification, made possible through the Gift of God.

• The service and the blessing of fruit remind us of the cycle of life and salvation – just as the Mother of God gives life, so the faithful receive the fruits of faith and hope.

• The feast strengthens the sense of family, community and spiritual continuity.

In Ruse it is the main feast of the church, marked with a solemn Divine Liturgy in praise of the Mother of God as protector of the family, marriage and motherhood

After the service “Madagh” (the blessed sacrificial meal) is handed out – blessed grapes, bread and meat – according to Armenian tradition
